One time I read that fashion editors often wear pieces multiple times a week to get their money's worth before the piece goes out of season. I'm currently employing this excuse to wear this top EVERY day because I love everything about it.

It's a quilted sweatshirt material that I originally bought to make a dress, but the dress didn't turn out how I wanted, and fortunately there was enough left to make a top. The pattern is my own, modified from a simple t-shirt pattern I drafted last summer.

Drape drape

I made this dress from a pattern from the Drape Drape 3 book by Hisako Sato. I've seen the Drape Drape books floating around the blogosphere for awhile, and was excited to try it for myself.

Here's what it looks like in the book.
The patterns were basically two large zig zag shapes that required gathering and folding along the side seams to create the drape at the skirt. Despite initially being intimidated, I found that the technique was pretty easy to follow once you get into it.

This dress has quickly become one of my favorites--super comfortable, and a little more interesting that a standard t-shirt dress!
